Are there no native Surgical Audit tools for OSX
Surgical audit is one of the key work things I use my computer for. I need a system that can keep track of all my info, so that I can track outcomes, and build an experience portfolio. Ideally, it would also be able to export in a format to use to submit to my college.
The Royal Australian College of Surgeons provides a PDF to download to submit your experience logbook.
I have not been able to find any native programs for surgical audit, aimed at the individual user (as opposed to practice management). What solutions do you use?
Windows Software
For those of you who have parallels installed, or use bootcamp, you can look at some of these windows platform programs. I have not tested any of these programs, so would be interested in your experiences if you try them.
Otago Audit System is one of the early starters in this field, and a frontrunner in Australasia.
Surgbase seems to be a functional, if unattractive program that provides a logbook suitable for Australian trainees.
Prof. David Watters (Geelong Hospital) has a Filemaker Pro database that is compatible with the Australian Dataset required for the College of surgeons. It is available on the college website to trainees, as is installation details. The standalone version is for Windows, and I haven’t got a copy of Filemaker to see if the files can work on OSX.
